So we're with Ellie Golding. How are you?
I'm really good, thank you. How are you?
I'm great.
Good.
So are you in the holiday spirit yet? We're at Jingle Ball, the first one.
I'm, I'm this is probably the, this is the thing that's got me most into the holiday spirit because the hotel I'm staying in is really Christmasy. And also like this is really Christmasy and I think this is the first thing that has like confirmed for me that it's Christmas, but I haven't had any other chance to really think about it unfortunately. I haven't even done my Christmas shopping yet.
It's December 1st already. We got to got to get on that.
I know. I really got to get on it. I haven't got anything for anyone yet.
Any plans for the holidays this year?
Um, just family stuff. I don't get to see my family very often, so yeah, family things.
You, you've had such an incredible year. I mean, first of all, your voice just alone is so unique. When you hear a song, you know it's you. You know.
And yeah, that's what people say, yeah.
How would you describe it? Could you even put it into a word?
No. Um, it's, it's nice, you know, um, to have that kind of voice. Um, it's nice to not, you know, um, sound like anyone else, I suppose. But I've always had a bit a pretty weird voice. In fact, people used to tell me not to sing 'cause my voice was too weird.
What? Whoever those people are.
Guitar and sing and people used to say, you should just play guitar because it's your voice is a bit Yeah. But now I'm glad that I didn't listen to them.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah, exactly.
Um, and then you just released your your album Delirium, which is incredible.
Thank you.
How would you say that it's different? Like, what makes this album so special?
Um, oh god. Um, it's definitely a lot more energetic. It's sort of a happier, more Yeah, energetic, um, feeling. It's definitely more dance-orientated than anything I've done before. Um, but, um, I mean, it's still very me. It's still like my fans recognize it as very much me, my signature kind of stuff. Very electronic pop, but also, you know, I have this fascination with guitar. I've always played guitar, so it's kind of a combination of everything. Um, but, um, yeah, it's it's the it's the album that I'm most proud of so far. Yeah.
And then tonight, there's so many people performing here. Is there somebody you are just fan girling over that you're so excited to see or that is an inspiration to you?
Um, I mean, love One Direction, love Five Seconds of Summer. I'm like real like boy band girl, you know, I used to love
And the screams are deafening. We could hear them down here.
Yeah. I mean, my screams are pretty deafening. I was I was quite stoked with how we were sort of like the loudness of of my scream. So, I'm not I'm not a boy or
You could probably pick out your scream from all the screams in the audience.
I don't know, maybe. But I'm I'm quite happy with it considering I'm just, you know, by myself and a girl. So.
And then I saw that you did something funny with James Corden. You were like singing your song in all different genres. Yeah. Is there a genre that you actually, if you weren't doing what you did, could you see yourself doing something else?
I was quite surprised at how good at the country genre I was.
I was gonna say the country.
The country was I sort of I felt it felt quite natural. And the folk as well. So maybe like something country-folk style next, maybe.
Has there been also just a moment this whole year, now that it's coming to a close, like, has there been something that just stood out to you that like, woah, I can't believe this happened or just something really memorable?
Um, to be honest, just, you know, the the thought of being able to release a third album is just really overwhelming because I never even thought I'd get to a second album. So, being able to release a third album and have such an incredible reaction from it, um, is really awesome. And that's so that's made my year.
That's amazing. Then lastly, 2016, what can your fans expect?
Touring. A very tired Ellie, a very exhausted Ellie, um, lots of lots of touring. Um, and who knows, God, I never know what my my what my career brings me. It's just constantly like turning corners and not really knowing. So, I know it'll be a lot of touring and a lot of festivals, but God, who knows? I never know what's gonna happen.
Amazing. Well, congratulations on everything. You're amazing, and have fun tonight.
Thank you. Thank you. Oh, thank you.
