Hey, what's up? I'm Nash. I'm here with Young Hollywood at Record Surplus in West LA and I'm going to go in record shopping. I grew up listening to The Beatles. My first album was The Beatles being sung by the Looney Tunes. So I don't think I'll find that here. I did find a copy so far of Sgt. Pepper's which it's not an old one, it's a brand new one. But this is like one of the biggest inspirations of my world, I mean this is my album art on my chest and I think it's the colors even kind of comparable. I want this one, McCartney. It's a great album. It's got 'Maybe I'm Amazed' on it. My mom used to play this album in the car all the time. So that's going to be my first purchase for sure.
It's been so long since we've seen you.
Yeah, it's been a little while. But the glasses are the same I think.
The glasses are the same.
When I have a feeling or a thought or an emotion, I put it down in a record so that it's out of me. And then when people resonate that with that, like I said earlier, it feels really great.
Let's show off your rings and your and your nail polish though 'cause I love that.
Okay. Oh I just got my nails done. I got purple glitter and we're going out on the Broken Hearts Club tour. So that's the theme of the tour. Um and then this is a ring my dad made that he gave to me. Um these two were gifts from my partner Rosabelle. Um this was my grandfather's high school graduation ring. My grandma's high school graduation ring. And that was a ring that uh Rose's mom owned. That was a, it's an antique Playboy ring.
And your hoodie. Very proud of. Also, we got to talk about that.
This is my album art. I'm very proud of it, so I wear it on my chest. Cuz I'm my own best billboard. I always go to the children's section cuz I'm a big Disney fan. Mmm, oh this is interesting. We got Mickey at the disco. Ooh, this is cool. I like this one. This looks like a 1949 Bugs Bunny in Story Land. And it probably comes with a couple of vinyls in there. And it's 16 bucks. And 16 is the day I was born in June. So that is going to be a purchase.
We have a lot of things to talk about and a lot of things to congratulate you on. So first things first, your latest single and new music video for T-Shirt.
Yeah, definitely. Yeah, yeah.
Okay, I love that lyric, "You broke my heart and all I got was this t-shirt." That is so creative.
Thank you.
And honestly, I feel like that's such a mood. Like what is it about t-shirts that people just love so much coming out of relationships?
Um yeah, it's like, you know, like people leave behind clothes. My dad always said that people leave something behind everywhere where they want to go back to. My friend Charlie and I wrote it together and he came in with the idea for, you know, what if there was one of those tourist t-shirts that was, you know, something and it was the end of a relationship and I was like, came up with the line. We ran from there.
Congratulations on two now your debut album coming out 1/11, January 11th.
Yeah, it's exciting. 111.
Okay, I was gonna ask you, do you have a special thing connected to that number or that date?
Yeah, a couple of things. One, three is just a really powerful, amazing number. And also my uncle passed away a couple weeks ago and um he's been communicating to my aunt using the number 111. Um so every time she checks the clock, it's 11:11 or 1:11 and the album, you know, I'm I'm really proud of it. I've worked on it for like, uh almost two years now. Soon as it's out, it's not really mine anymore, it's everybody's. And that's why it's called We. So I have a tattoo right here.
Oh, cool. 111. As soon as I saw that your album was dropping that day, I was like, "I'm going to bring it up." Similar thing, my dad passed away. He shows up in this number all the time. Table numbers, bills like you were saying.
Wow.
Interviewing artists like you that drop it.
Yeah, it's just little reminders that magic is real. That's amazing. That's cool. Oh wow, this is great. I'm going to get this for Rosa. This is her favorite, her favorite children's story. My partner Rosa's favorite, favorite story is Peter and the Wolf. We got an Alvin and the Chipmunks for some kind of TV record. That's crazy.
Now your third congratulations, the tour now.
Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah, coming up. Broken Hearts Club. Yeah. First show sold out. I'm excited. We're playing um mostly older stuff, but um a couple of the songs from the new album cuz I didn't want to throw a bunch of new stuff in there and have everybody be like, "I don't know the the words yet." To me, tour is just the vehicle for like me to connect with people directly in a physical sense. We're so in our phones and we're so like locked into these mirrors and we get so wrapped up in what other people think, but we don't ever really take time to think for ourselves. And I think that's the one of the most beautiful gifts that a human can give to themselves is is just some time to think. And that's what I took making this album. And I'm really proud of it. Vibe wise, we went for like somewhere between like kind of a dingy jazz club and an 80s prom. Okay. Um because I thought that that was, you know, that's the world we created in the video. So it's really important to me that I replicate the way the video felt for people when they come to the show so that they feel like they're stepping into the world that I exist in in my mind and the album exists in.
Lastly, if you could manifest just like one thing, maybe like outside of music or it could be music. Like what's something that you really want?
Um one of my big life goals right now is I really want to play the Greek Theater in LA. That'd be so cool. Yeah, I have this really specific um manifestation that I focus on from time to time of me like playing the Greek and getting some kind of like really cool plaque there for the record. I got three records. I got McCartney. I got Peter and the Wolf. And I got this sick Bugs Bunny book. And I'm going to go buy these. Thanks for hanging out. I love you. My name's Nash. Come to the Broken Hearts Club tour and listen to my album We. I'm really proud of it. Peace.
