All right, I'm here with hip-hop duo The Wow. We've got KO the Legend and Balthazar Getty.

So we're in your in-home studio which has a lot of history to it. You're talking about bed and breakfast back in the day.

That's right. So for you viewers that can't see the the rest of us, we're we're in an old um 20s house, you know, in L. A. This is the home studio. So a lot of stuff might get demoed here. Obviously, I work here a lot. We also have another studio down in Hollywood and we work uh with the homie Super Dave. Shout out to Super Dave. Basically, I put my kids to sleep and then I get to come down here and play uh with my grown-up buddies. You can make an album with this thing. It's got incredible drum sounds, incredible little keyboard sounds. Um it has a really cool interplay with it. And so I use this thing for a huge bass kick. You wouldn't imagine um you can get out of this thing. I I started actually DJing with the Beastie Boys DJ Mike Mesc in the 90s. And I got my first DJ rig when I was 15.

I heard you were sneaking in the clubs.

And and and I used to sneak in and do like the last hour set. So flash forward to about a year and a half ago. Um you know, it was time for me to kind of try something new in my life and I was tired of acting. I don't want to be a monkey in a suit hitting marks, you know. So I knew I wanted to make a hip-hop record. That hip-hop is my blood. So basically, I made beats that had choruses that had real structure. A good friend of mutual friend of ours said you should hear this rapper KO. Um and basically KO came into the studio. We just started making magic. Within the first hour, we had a record done.

Oh, wow. So there was that instant chemistry like you guys just knew.

Definitely and and and every session thereafter was the same thing. Some days we'd be knocking out like two or three songs today. That's unheard of. That's awesome. Yeah. Yeah, so and and and the cool thing is, I mean, we both come from a background of various genres and and we like all music as long as it's good. But um neither one of us were kind of surviving off of hip-hop. We were both surviving off of pop or or whatever else we were doing. And so for us to be able to come to and come together and kind of share our passion for hip-hop and and do it in its purest form was really cool. Like all of the new cats, everything they have is in their laptop. They just have like virtual versions of all of these. I use this on uh solar drive, which is the first album we put out. And I basically did that entire record synth-wise on this Roland.

How long did you do battle rapping for? That seems so difficult.

Um for a while like actually the first week I moved to L. A. the very first week I moved to L. A. I called Power 106. They had this thing called the walk on. Okay. And I called in and I was on for the next five months.

Oh, that's amazing.

And they had to retire me but through that I met like a bunch of different people and his his genesis is is a battle rapper and that's so for me that was that's a must. Like you have to be a master of your craft. And then here you have the machine, which is the future like this is what most most kids are using right here. I mean, you plug that into your laptop and that's it. I mean, you have drums, you have keys, you have you can literally um you know, I mean, this is the evolution like my drum machines that are in in the recording room are like, you know, 30 pounds and I mean, this is it. This I mean, this is all you need now. For us, everything we put out from videos to EPKs, we all want it to be really a burst of creativity. It's not just content, we don't see it that way. We see everything as an opportunity to create art and to try to connect with people, you know, ultimately for for higher consciousness, you know. Uh I'm the motherfucking man of cats. Uncut dope, I'll be spitting raw raps. Real big dogs can't hang with small cats. I'll be chilling with the Forbes list just kicking hard facts.

So when you go to like a a club or like a lounge to perform, what do you bring?

Right, what would I bring is normally my my Serrato deck. Okay. Which um here, I'm going to give you guys a hyper exclusive. This is crazy. Never been done before. So the laptop will go up here. Okay. And then these are triggers. So basically, I'm able to scratch the record. I'm able to start the record. And then these different pads will have drum loop sound effects.

So you bring this whole thing

So yeah. So basically all I see how this is on a mic stand. Yeah. I just bring this and a laptop. That's all you need. Essentially, that's all I need. If I were to come.

I love it. DJ. Yeah. Okay. And who would you guys possibly like to collaborate with down the road? Who's someone you guys are really interested in?

It's like saying asking an actor who would you like to Right. Scorsese, Francis you know, Kanye West, all of those guys, of course, they're my peers. In many cases, you idolize them. Um but I'm very much a perfectionist. So in terms of like the production, I can't I don't like to partner with people. Got it. Because I know what I want. Right. And if they're not on the same page. Artist-wise, yeah, I would love to work, you know, I'd be honored to work with with any of those guys.

Did you teach yourself how to DJ when you were 15?

Um essentially, yeah. I mean again, I had turntables. Right. So basically taught myself. Also pro tools the same. Um I just sat down and and started doing it. I do the things I love. I love to paint and draw, record music, draw, you know, I love this it's basically what the label has provided for me is an outlet to do what I love. I love to direct, I love to draw, I love to record. Yeah, I agree. And the Purple House is in itself is just kind of has a futuristic mentality. Anything that's next level, anything that's going to

Are you one of those people who post a photo and then you like keep checking to see who liked it, what's going on?

Well, I mean, I don't have to check cuz I got my alert set up. I don't do that, but what I am guilty of is the selfie.
