Actually no, I was coming from Canada filming a a TV show, but um I'm excited.
That's right. You've got something brewing on the AMC. You wanna tell us about that?
Oh yeah, I'm excited about um a show called Hell on Wheels. Um, we just shot the pilot and it's it's an incredible story of about the building of the Transcontinental Railroad. So it takes place in 1865. Got some great characters. Man it's in my character is Elam. I'm a freed slave and it's it's it's powerful. I can't wait.
You're such a talented actor.
Thank you.
You know, and you're here obviously, Sunset Strip Music Festival to perform.
Yes. This is the automatic. I stay fresh like I wrap in plastic. We be galactic, south side, we got to lock it.
And you have an album in the works as well. You're a busy guy. Tell us about the album.
Getting it wrapped back up. I I started on it and then I had to take a break. But I'm getting wrapped back up. No ID is producing it. I'm gonna be working with Kanye West. You know it's gonna be that that raw hip hop, you know, soulful hip hop that I like to give to the people, so.
So how does this album, The Believer, how is it different from your past album?
You know, it's just you're never the same person that you were yesterday. So this album is gonna be expression of where I am at this moment. But it will have some of the elements of spirit and soul and and heart that that my albums that I like to deliver.
Music is such a hard industry to master and you're a legend in the music industry. What are the essentials and what do you think, what advice would you give those up-and-coming artists to get to where you are today?
Well, I think it's important that you like find what your voice is. Find that means, find what your your your voice. Who you are. Like what do you believe in? What do you stand for? Where where does your imagination want to go? And once you find that unique quality about you and how you want to deliver that as an artist, then you just have to believe in it.
Do you find it hard to keep up or do you just feel that it's all been really organic for you?
Yeah. I believe I stay aware and I just stay true and organic to what I feel is creative. I don't know if it's gonna be the most popular, I always believed in my albums are gonna be like, this is gonna be the best seller ever, you know, but sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. But I just stay true to to what I'm feeling as an artist.
Well, you have to go perform right now. So I'm gonna let you go. But thank you so much and I can't wait to see you up on stage.
