Hi everyone, Baruch here in New York, where I'm catching up with Senator John McCain and other political heavyweights here at the Concordia Summit.

Politicians Talk Millennials

So does this. I'm doing well, how are you?

Young Hollywood

No. Living the dream. There we go. With the administration's evolving approach to ISIS. Does this feel like a told you so moment for you?

Politicians Talk Millennials

Uh, it does, but also it's with great regret because I wish I'd been wrong. I really do. I wish I'd been wrong because it's now a tragic situation.

Young Hollywood

Had you been president, what were the what would be the top three things that you would have done differently?

Politicians Talk Millennials

Well, first, I would have left a force behind in Iraq, a stabilizing force, not combat, but a stabilizing force. Um, second of all, I would have armed the Free Syrian Army where the president overruled his Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense and CIA director. I would have armed them. And third of all, I certainly would have uh armed the Ukrainians who have been basically invaded by Russia. Given them arms to defend themselves.

Young Hollywood

America has gotten to know you very well over the years. What's the one thing Americans still don't know about you, Senator McCain?

Politicians Talk Millennials

Um, probably what a sports uh nut I am, having been a mediocre high school athlete. They found out what a terrible dancer I am.

Young Hollywood

What's the rule of young people are you finding within your government, within your country?

Politicians Talk Millennials

We in our caucus, in Congress, in our party, we have many young people. And they are working the hardest they can.

Young Hollywood

I've gotta ask you, many Colombian entertainers have become big celebrities here in the United States. Who are your favorite Colombian celebrities? Who? Who's your favorite?

Politicians Talk Millennials

Okay, it could say Sofía Vergara. If you mentioned a different one, I would say, yes, I agree. That's a good answer. It is impossible to make any choice. Because there's so much talent in Colombia. Talent and beauty.

Young Hollywood

There we go. How about millennials in their 20s and 30s, who want to follow in your footsteps and start to pursue pursue deals of their own? What's the best way to start to tackle that?

Politicians Talk Millennials

Well, get a good education, one, and have a good work ethic. I mean, if you have a good work ethic, I promise you, you're halfway there.

Young Hollywood

What do you think of people in their 20s and 30s in this country? Do they inspire you? Do they worry you?

Politicians Talk Millennials

Oh, both. You know, I've got a bunch of grandkids. I've got you know, 12 grandkids. So uh they're they're all, I've got them on my scope all the time. But I tell them, I said, you're not going to get even with unless you have a good work ethic. So start off there.

Young Hollywood

Most of our audience are people in their 20s or 30s. What should politicians be doing to re-engage millennials in the whole process?

Politicians Talk Millennials

Uh that is a very, very good question. My daughter is 19, so she doesn't quite

Young Hollywood

So you have a focus group at home.

Politicians Talk Millennials

She is exactly. And I think if you asked her, uh she would say that she is just tired of that bickering. Uh she'll tell me the same thing. She wants to see people that are just sort of are willing to put that aside to get things done. I think the second thing is climate change. That's an issue that I think a lot of younger people understand that they're going to inherit. Uh doing something smart and stable with our debt. So they're not inheriting um all of this debt. Uh and I think the other thing is student loans and making it easier to afford college and graduate school uh for a lot of the young people. It's just getting harder and harder.

Young Hollywood

Of course, many great entertainers were born in Minnesota. Who are some of your favorite Minnesota celebrities?

Politicians Talk Millennials

Oh, I love that. I've been rarely asked that question. Well, I'm on you.

Young Hollywood

Young Hollywood.

Politicians Talk Millennials

Okay. Could we start with Prince? Of course we could start with Prince. Like, you know, on Halloween when I was in law school, I dressed as purple rain. Like I was all in purple and umbrella. But then I lost. I came in second place for best costume to a guy dressed as the bathroom wall. Like, really? You know, he had like thing on that.

Young Hollywood

I demand a recount on that.

Politicians Talk Millennials

written on it. We are a creative state. And it's not just with celebrities. We're actually very creative when it comes to inventing things. We gave the world everything from the pacemaker to the Post-It note. And that kind of scientific creativity is something that we have put on the back shelf for too long in this country. And I think we need to put a greater emphasis on that in addition to all of the celebrities that we have. From Prince to Post-It notes, it's all in Minnesota.
