Welcome to Younghollywood. com. Here at the uh Troubadour at the uh Air Guitar LA Championship. Hey, it's Joe Wood for Young Hollywood. I'm here with Jeff Davis at the for Air Guitar. You are a judge tonight.

I am a judge. It's pretty hard to describe actually. People come on stage in front of a bunch of strangers and pretend to play guitar and some people really stink and some people really rock.

So what are you going to be looking for in these contestants?

It's hard to describe. You know it when you see it. They have 60 seconds to kind of melt your face off with rock and roll just by virtue of their own stage presence and their own ability to pretend to be a rock star. So it's like the rock and rollers without any of the genius that takes to actually be one.

I've seen some interesting costumes tonight. Is that going to have anything to do with it?

Just you wait. You see a lot of bad mullet wigs. You're going to see a lot of ill-advised costume choices.

Now, have you ever been caught in an air guitar moment?

If anybody out there wants to blackmail me, hide cameras in my house. Because I'm generally in my own rock video at all times.

Ever gotten a funny reaction from the car next to you?

Generally like if you're really rocking out in your car, if you're really singing, if you're really going for it and you see somebody else and you look nervous about it, then they get kind of bummed out. But if you look over and you're like, yeah! then they're like, all right.

Greg Pribbs, funny, funny guy. Are you having fun tonight?

I'm having a marvelous time. The artistry of watching people mime to guitars, some of whom are overweight, some of whom are over their sell-by date, awesome. I'm looking for three things. A majestic approach, a joie de vivre that's undeniable, a zest for living, and some technical prowess. I'd like to see the guitar at some point as opposed to just

Now, have you ever been caught in an air guitar moment?

In 1976, my friend Jane Sido and I were air guitaring to come alive in his room when his father walked in and asked us if we were dancing together. It was a shocking moment of early teenagehood and we said, no, we're simply air guitaring. which was unknown to previous generations.

Can we get a little sample? What's the secret to good air guitar?

First of all, I think men are much more on the air guitar tip than women. Women are too cool to ever pretend to play an instrument, whereas men are willing at any point. I'm Greg Props. Drink responsibly.
