Welcome to Younghollywood. com. Hey there Young Hollywood, I'm Michelle Marie and tonight we bring you to the art of Brighton Goss. We find out why celebrities love his art and why it's so memorable. The first piece of art that I ever bought was one of his. And over time, I ended up collecting about 20 something pieces. The blind leading the blind is fantastic. And I like the twins, the nude twins. The painting behind us is one that you actually have. We were in Paris and he saw her and said, can I paint you? And he photographed her and then he painted her. Why do you think people are so drawn to him and his art?
First of all, when you look at his paintings, it's clear that he knew what he was doing. He was really dedicated and disciplined and and incredibly intelligent. He stretched his own canvases, he treated his own canvases. Every aspect of what he did, he was educated and it should be an inspiration for people because to be good at something, you have to work and earn it. I think that he was always sort of trying to go against the status quo. There was a part of him that as well was really uh into traditionalism. I threw his first show for him when he was 16 and even then he was really precocious. I think that um most of the artwork here uh was done when he was, you know, 21, 23 years old.
I am here with Nathan Lee Graham. You might have seen him in Zoolander. First of all, Brighton Goss's paintings are exquisite. They're absolutely exquisite. The warm, the color, the contour, the tangible feeling you get when you look at these paintings is amazing. Now, the painting behind you, I know this is one of your favorites. When I saw these paintings of Tribecca on fire, I was just like happy, sad, you know, elated, depressed, a gamut of emotions and I just I just love that he takes you on this ride and that's what art does for me. It takes you on a ride. You know, and it's very personal. It's extremely personal. Hello, this is Jason Lee and you're watching Young Hollywood.
