Young Hollywood

Young Hollywood is here sitting with Kay Brad in the Ghost Gaming house and you're about to teach me Street Fighter.

K-Brad

I am.

Young Hollywood

So you are the pro gamer at Street Fighter.

K-Brad

I am the pro.

Young Hollywood

All right, let's do it. See, if all these different characters to choose from, how do you choose?

K-Brad

There's a list of characters that are very good and there's a list of characters that are all right, and then there's a list of characters that suck. The developers, I don't think that's their intention to make characters suck. It's just some characters are a lot better than others. Think of it like we all have the potential to pick any of these characters. Even it could be two Cammys on the screen too. So I can pick Cammy and you can pick Cammy and we can go against each other. Think of it like if someone had like a race and they're like, "All right, listen. You have four selections. You have a Ferrari, you have a Porsche, you have this Toyota, you have this Honda." Like your driving ability maybe a lot better than mine, but I'm in a better vehicle, so I'm going to win by default. Kind of like that. Like, you know, it's it's one of those things. I personally believe this is the best character in the game.

Young Hollywood

Really?

K-Brad

Yes, I believe. I actually like just started playing this character. He's been great in every version of the game. This game, they made him even better. I think he's the best. But this is my character. I always play her every version. So I'm playing this character, Cammy, and this character Rashid.

Young Hollywood

So every time you want to try and learn to be a good gamer, you have to try and play each character to understand how to win?

K-Brad

You You don't necessarily have to play every single one, but you definitely have to play against every single one.

Young Hollywood

What about Ken?

K-Brad

Uh, Ken? Um, don't worry about Ken. Ken's not good. We're not. Sorry, Ken. Last not, last not. He He was good in the first season of the game. He was amazing in the first season of the game and people complained and he's, you know, he's not viable anymore like that. So don't pick Ken. So we'll we'll start you off simple. Cammy's great. She's been great in every version and just because it's my character, we'll pick her.

Young Hollywood

Okay.

K-Brad

Yeah, so. Cammy. Yeah, we'll pick the we'll pick the blue and white one. And then we'll we'll we'll beat up on Ken.

Young Hollywood

Sweet. Yeah. Sorry, Ken.

K-Brad

Yeah. So this is just training mode. So I'm just show you like the basics for you to like the fast track to success. The fast track of becoming a top player. All right? Okay. Make sure all the buttons are good. The health bar for Cammy. Health bar for Ken. Whoever like loses health very Like you see how his health every time I hit him, his health goes down. Yeah. Every time you hit him, the more you hit him, his health is going down. And now he's done. There's a stun bar up there. You get stunned if you get hit too many times consecutively. So it's just about being good at fighting within this little area in this game here.

Young Hollywood

Yeah. So then if if this was a match, he would have lost. Because he lost his health before I did, right?

K-Brad

So every character they have special moves. She lunges to the top of the screen and she kicks you in the mouth. Oh. Yeah, so that's like one of her moves. And then here's another one. She does a drill on the ground. So it's like it's all like stuff like that. Like that one goes in the air. This one's on the ground. She has one where she spins around. So that. And you do that one by doing triangle and circle at the same time.

Young Hollywood

Oh, triangle circle. Yeah, both of them. Oh, I like just like this. Like Yeah, both of them. Yeah, yeah. Oh, look at that. Wait. Oh, there we go. Yes. Yes.

K-Brad

So yeah, all it is is like just hitting them both at the same time. If you if you ever hit one before the other, the move doesn't come out. That's why, yeah, the timing is pretty like Oh, I keep forgetting. We're in training mode. So of course, he's not going to fight back. You're going to think I'm good.

Young Hollywood

Hey. It's you. You won. Right? So So yeah, it's just Punching bags don't swing back. So now I think I'm ready for the real thing. Show me what the pros do.

K-Brad

Okay. So the good thing about training mode and most fighters, um, you can always set however you want. You can record the computer doing something. You can record it and have them play it back. And then when they play it back, you can find ways around it. So that's the good thing about training mode. But instead of doing that right now, we're just going to make him the computer. And we'll like probably set it to hardest difficulty. We'll set it to eight. Yeah. Eight is the hardest. So you you want to sit here and you want to like stop him from doing all the stuff that he's doing. You see, he's attacking now. And he jumped at me and I didn't do anything about it, which I should have. But every single thing, that's punishable. Like when someone does a move that like you can do something about it, which is like it's an unsafe move. So you shouldn't be doing it. You can punish it. So he jumped at me. I stopped him from jumping. I'm using my attacks to stop him from moving. Now he's like attacking back. The whole thing is you the the point of the game You see how I jumped and I couldn't block? Yeah. The point of the game is you don't want you don't want the computer to like beat you before you beat them pretty much, you know? Yeah. See, you see how Ken did that? Like and that's not his special move. So the the goal of the game all it is is life bar. So you look at your life bar and you like in certain moves. You see how I'm blocking? Yeah. Some moves take uh chip damage. And chip damage is like a little bit of damage even if you're blocking. See, he's throwing a fire ball at me? They it takes damage even though I'm blocking. So the pros will sit here, we'll do a couple of moves. He'll do his thing. That was a throw. That's that's with two buttons too. So you want to throw You can't you can't you can't block a throw. So you can just throw all day unless they like do something about it.

Young Hollywood

So how do you get better than the guy you're playing against? I mean, you're obviously really good, you know where all the buttons are, but what if the other guy does too? I mean, what does it really come down to?

K-Brad

It comes down to like uh decision making. So I'll show you like this. Like like if someone were to if someone were like look, he just did an unsafe move. Like you What you do is you like punish it like pretty big. Like let's say like I believe that you won't do anything about this move. Like here, here we go right here. You see how I dashed? Yeah. That's unsafe too. It's a lot of unsafe things in the game, but you calculate like the risk reward of it. You can play pretty safe. You can play pretty safe. Like if we both know our characters, I'm going to play pretty safe and I'm just going to like do something like this. Do like safe safe moves where you can't really do anything about it. But it doesn't do that much damage. You see how he's not losing a lot of health? Yeah. But then I can do other moves that like do a lot more damage. But they're a little riskier. Yeah, they're a little riskier. So like you might want to do them sometimes, but not that much. So it's all about decision making skills and risk taking. Yeah. So yeah, you see how you see how this move is like pretty much keeping him in check? This move right here, you just like you can just do that all day.

Young Hollywood

Yeah, this is pretty amazing. Yeah. So what would be your one pro tip for someone who wants to be a professional gamer?

K-Brad

Um, if I have one, it would be to learn you have to learn everything about the game. If you're If you're going to go pro for sure. Because obviously, you can learn everything about your character, but it doesn't matter if you don't know what someone else is doing. So it's a lot of people that get by in tournaments. Like a new character will come out and then people will pick that new character because no one knows what they're doing. No one knows what this character is doing, what the character is about, so people will pick that character just because of like you don't know what's happening. So I feel like to be pro, you have to learn every character. You have to learn every character and everything that they're doing.

Young Hollywood

Well, thanks so much. I really think I could join the team maybe. Yeah, I think I'm pretty good.

K-Brad

Yeah, maybe in like two weeks or something. You'll be pretty good.

Young Hollywood

All right, two weeks? Yeah. All right, I'm in. I'm in the house, you guys. Thanks for showing me.

K-Brad

Of course. Any time.
