WOMEN WE LOVE: Christy Carlson Romano

Here’s the sitch. It’s been 18 years since Cadet Kelly came out. It’s been 17 years since "Even Stevens" went off the air. And it’s been 13 years since "Kim Possible" finished its run.

In short, it’s been a long time since we’ve had Christy Carlson Romano on our screens – at least, as a Disney star.

But here’s the lovely thing about Christy Carlson Romano: she’s never disappeared from our lives. In fact, now more than ever, she’s been keeping us well fed when it comes to nostalgia. Remember when she recreated her iconic hit “We Went To The Moon In 1969” with her "Even Stevens" co-stars last year? It’s probably been too long since that song was in your head, so allow me to help:

The video was part of Romano’s new YouTube series “Christy’s Kitchen Throwback”, in which she reunites with her old Disney co-stars along with some other child stars she befriended over the years, and they actually cook some of the most memorable food items from their series. From Halloweentown’s Kimberley J. Brown to "Boy Meets World"’s Danielle Fishel, CCR has snagged guests that will hit you right in the childhood feels (in all the best ways).

But honestly, we love Christy Carlson Romano for so much more than nostalgia. There’s also her realness when it comes to being a mom. Yes, Ren Stevens is now the mom of two – and she’s embracing every part of it. Of course, one big part of being a mom is just… insanity. Kids are hard to wrangle, man. Sometimes you just need a break, and that’s okay. For Romano, that meant a quick trip to the car.

In a more recent TikTok, Romano also opened up a bit about the insecurities she’s faced about her body since giving birth.

It's something a lot of moms face, and she’s right; they absolutely should be celebrated. Hands up for mamas indeed.

And then, between the wonderful nostalgia and hilarious truths of being a mom, Christy Carlson Romano also lends her voice and her platform to boosting important societal causes. In the wake of George Floyd’s death at the hands of cops in Minneapolis, Romano used her TikTok to support the Black Lives Matter movement.

As a mom, as an actress, as a person, she’s continually proving to be an incredible role model. So here’s to Christy Carlson Romano – our forever Disney queen.
