Winter Olympians You Should Be Following on TikTok!

Written by Hannah Shariff. Published: February 04 2022

The 2022 Beijing Olympics are finally here! This will be the second Olympics happening during the pandemic, and just like in Tokyo last summer, regulations are extremely strict. However, while COVID is still at large, we have OlympicTok to look forward to!

Back in the 2021 Summer Games, Olympians began posting on TikTok to show homebound viewers what living in the Olympic Village is really like. This year, OlympicTok is back in full swing — with a whole host of new athlete legends joining in dance trends, vlogs, and more. Here’s a roundup of some of our favorite users to watch as the Games unfold!

1. Caroline Claire

Caroline Claire is a freestyle skier from Vermont. At 22, she is a two-time Olympian that competed in the Pyeongchang Games and will also ski in Beijing this year. While Caroline has been skiing ever since she could walk, she is also a pro at vlogging. In one of her most viewed videos, she gives us an inside look at Team USA’s departure to Beijing. Set to motivational background music, commenters couldn’t help but tear up as they watched the athletes be cheered on by Delta Airlines staff members.

2. Anna Fairman and Anna Segedi

Anna Fairman and Anna Segedi are two hockey players on Team China. But on TikTok, they call themselves "Anna times two", which completely encapsulates this dynamic duo. The two teammates (and roommates!) post comedic Olympic content with current TikTok trends that have all of us laughing. Who knew Olympians could be so relatable?

3. Sarah Nurse

Sarah Nurse is a part of Team Canada as a two-time Olympic hockey player. She is a renowned hockey player back home, who has been continuously breaking boundaries in her sport not only through her athletic ability but also through raising awareness of the racism that is still present within hockey culture. Nurse is so inspiring that, back in 2020, Mattel and Tim Hortons collaborated on a limited-edition Barbie doll based on Nurse as part of Barbie's "You Can Be Anything" campaign. Off the ice, Nurse is also an avid TikTok user and most recently posted Team Canada’s fits — all of which are sponsored by Lululemon. Jealous? So are we!

4. Maddie Maestro

Maddie Maestro is a Team USA snowboarder from California. She began skiing at age 2 but transitioned to snowboarding after her parents bought her a pink snowboard when she was 6 years old. Maestro is an avid vlogger and has posted all aspects of life in the Village to her page. Viewers can watch her try on Team USA’s fits (sponsored by Ralph Lauren), check out the Olympic dining hall, and also go shopping at the Olympic convenience store!

5. Shaun White

We all know who Shaun White is, but in case you’ve been living under a rock, White is a snowboarding icon on Team USA (and also Nina Dobrev’s boyfriend) who is a 4-time Olympian and a 3-time Olympic gold medalist. When he’s not busy being a GOAT, White is always responding to TikTok users’ comments on his experiences at the Games.

Good luck to all the athletes in Beijing!!!
