Remember when the first season of “Ginny & Georgia” came out almost 2 years ago and everyone was obsessed with it? All the social media platforms got flooded with various videos from the show, and even if you weren’t a fan of the series, you most certainly saw at least a few scenes. And now, the more adult and darker version of “Gilmore Girls” is finally coming back! The second season of the show will be released on Netflix on January 5, so make sure to remember this date and cancel all other plans for a day or two.

The trailer of the popular show came out a few days ago, and we can catch a glimpse of what’s going to happen in this mother-daughter duo’s lives. (WARNING: Spoilers for Season 1 ahead!)

Season 2 picks up the story right where it was left off. The trailer starts with Ginny (Antonia Gentry) jogging and trying to understand her mother and her past, with a short flashback to young and scared Georgia, who wants to run away. In the Season 1 finale, Ginny found out that her stepdad didn’t die of natural causes but was murdered by Georgia (Brianne Howey) and, along with her brother Austin, drove away on a motorcycle. From the trailer, we can guess that she heads over to her dad's, as they have an argument about Georgia. The burden of the secret is too heavy for Ginny, and she’s trying to cope with it.

Meanwhile, Georgia seems to be enjoying the empty house with her fiancé Paul and assures him that she doesn’t miss or care that her kids aren’t home at all (what a liar!). She’s happy with her life right now -- she’s got a job and good friends, and she’s going to get married and become the first lady of Wellsbury very soon. However, her dark past haunts her to this day, as another danger may be upon Georgia: she killed two people (that we know of) and private investigator Cordova knows about one of them. In Season 1, Georgia destroyed all the evidence, but she still might face the consequences of her dark past, especially since Cordova has a conversation with Ginny trying to persuade her that Georgia is dangerous. In the scene after, Georgia is getting ready and reloading a gun. Is there a new threat for the badass mom?

Things don’t seem okay at school either. The incredible MANG group is now divided into Ginny and Abby, and Max and Norah. Hunter doesn’t speak to Ginny anymore, and it seems like the only person who’s on her side is Marcus. Ginny has another confrontation with Max, accusing her of not caring about her complicated situation and problems. It feels like Ginny has to take the whole responsibility of her actions from the previous season and try to make amends in this one.

Don’t worry, though, not everything is as bad and depressing as it seems. In the trailer, we see how Ginny and Georgia slowly find their way back to each other and become closer than ever. Plus, lots of funny moments, crazy dances, and sarcastic jokes by Georgia are absolutely guaranteed, no matter how hard things get.

Also, new character alert! In one short scene, we can see Austin turning around a calling a stranger “Dad”. Could Austin’s father finally be out of “Azkaban” and appear in the new season, since, in the last one, Ginny sent all of her brother’s letters to him? Or is little Austin just confused, desperately trying to find his dad? We’ll find out the answers to these secrets and mysteries very soon!
