Sara Bareilles Bringing Her Talents to Apple TV+ with New Series "Little Voice"!

Written by Victoria Martinez. Published: July 02 2020

The masterminds behind the hit Broadway show Waitress are taking over television. That's right, Sara Bareilles and Jessie Nelson are bringing a modern rom-com story to the Apple TV+ catalog. Bareilles is also providing new original music that will for sure get us on our feels!

Last week, Apple TV+ dropped the trailer for the new series “Little Voice”, and we’re more than excited for it! If you enjoy musicals as much as I do, then add this series to your watchlist.

The story follows Bess King (Brittany O’Grady), a New York-based singer/songwriter with personal struggles that prevent her from following her dream of becoming a performer. Bess shares the story of her first performance that did not go as intended and drove her to stop sharing her work with others. Will she find the motivation to start all over? Guess we will find out as we follow her journey.

And from we saw in the trailer, Bess is set up for some love trouble as well.

First, there’s Ethan (Sean Teale), the charming guy she seems to have a close connection with and feels comfortable enough to confide in him. But (I know, I know, THERE’S ALWAYS A "BUT") he’s got a girlfriend. Then, there’s Samuel (Colton Ryan), the cute musician who gives Bess the push she needs to act on her dream. I smell a love triangle incoming!

The 9-episode series will also feature Shalini Bathina as Prisha and Phillip Johnson Richardson as Benny.

Fun fact: Bareilles’s second album (AKA the same album that featured the hit and all-time classic “Love Song”) is titled Little Voice. Yet the track with the same name was never released. Sara even performed a demo version of the song in front of a live audience back in 2007! Fast-forward to 2020 and the track becomes the theme song for a new series. It’s all full circle!

Check out the powerful ballad about finding your voice, “Little Voice” by Sara Bareilles!

The first 2 episodes of “Little Voice” will be available to stream on July 10 and every Friday after on Apple TV+.
