NBC Is Rebooting "Saved By The Bell" and We're So Excited We Just Can't Hide It!

Many of us, including myself, were not even born yet when "Saved By the Bell" first came out, but it was such a hit and so iconic that I definitely watched the reruns. If you’re just like me, or you were just super young when the show came out, you are…. “alright cuz you’re saved by the bell.”

That’s right, it’s official -- NBC is doing a reboot of the hit TV series. The original series ran from 1989-1992 and was about a group of 6 friends and their high school experiences at Bayside High School in Palisades, California.

The show birthed amazing cast members that made it huge in Hollywood, including Mark-Paul Gosselaar (who you can now catch on ABC's "Mixed-ish"), future TV host Mario Lopez, Dustin Diamond, Lark Voorhies, Dennis Haskins, Tiffani Thiessen, and Elizabeth Berkley.

The show is to premiere on NBC’s new streaming service Peacock... Wait, another streaming service? Yup! Peacock will be available to the public in April of 2020.

Okay, enough of being sidetracked. How exciting is it that one of the most loved '90s series is getting a reboot?! Pretty exciting, right?

Well, for all of you that do know the show, I have even more exciting news. Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley from the original cast will be back for the reboot!!! Zack Morris might have said that the best thing about high school was that, once you graduated, you didn’t have to come back... but a few of the OG cast members graduated, and guess what? They’re coming back!

The two will be back but this time as parents. The synopsis of the show reads, “When California governor Zack Morris gets into hot water for closing too many low-income high schools, he proposes they send the affected students to the highest performing schools in the state — including Bayside High. The influx of new students gives the over privileged Bayside kids a much needed and hilarious dose of reality.”

Woah, well that was a lot to digest. I mean, wait. Did they really say that THE Zack Attack is governor of California?! That’s hilarious. I wonder how that’s going to go...

Actually, I am excited to see where all the OG characters are now. NBC has not confirmed if any of the other original cast members will be back, and they also haven’t announced when the reboot will premiere, but hopefully as soon as Peacock is available, because I just can’t wait any longer than that!
