Calling all "Bridgerton" fans! It won’t be long now before we are able to take a promenade back to the Regency Era and be reunited with our beloved period-piece characters. Netflix’s prequel/spin-off, "Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story", will arrive on May 4 and will revolve around young Queen Charlotte’s monumental marriage to King George III and the effects it had on high society. This show also served as the inspiration for Queen Charlotte, the brand new novel co-written by Julia Quinn and Shonda Rhimes, which will be released May 9. Let’s take a look at everything we know so far!

The trailer dropped on March 23, and it is brimming with intoxicating scandal and intense romance. Starting with the cast: India Amarteifio will portray young Queen Charlotte, and Golda Rosheuval will reprise her role as our favorite drama-loving queen from the original "Bridgerton" series. We will also see Corey Mylchreest as young King George, Arsema Thomas as young Lady Agatha Danbury, and Michelle Fairley as Princess Augusta.

We will also get to reunite with some current stars – Ruth Gemmell (Lady Violet Bridgerton) and Adjoa Andoh (Lady Agatha Danbury) will be joining Rosheuval to reprise their illustrious roles. The series will also highlight the origin stories of these young women and invite us even deeper into their lives.

"Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story" will still be produced by Shondaland, Rhimes’s television production company. Betsy Beers and Tom Verica will executive produce as well, with Verica as the director. As of right now, the series is only confirmed to be one season consisting of 6 episodes. We do not have information yet about whether the episodes will be released weekly or all at once, but regardless, we will definitely want to space out our binge-watching so that we can make our time in the Bridgerton universe last!

Back when Netflix had their yearly global fan event, TUDUM, we got a peek at a scene from the upcoming series. Young Queen Charlotte is seen attempting to scale a wisteria-covered wall in the garden to avoid meeting King George. After making her disdainful opinion of the king clear to a stranger, she learns that the man she is talking to is the King himself, a.k.a. the person she is supposed to marry. It is perfectly reminiscent of the romantic tension in the original "Bridgerton" series, and those two minutes alone have assured us that the spin-off will likely exceed expectations.

According to a press release from Netflix, “Shonda and her team are thoughtfully building out the Bridgerton universe so they can keep delivering for the fans with the same quality and style they love.” In addition to stunning fashion dripping with jewels, elaborate set design, and a brilliant balance between drama and love, we will also get to see the world of "Bridgerton" develop and amplify into something that is sure to become an absolute gem -- or, should we say, a diamond!
