Katy Perry Drops New Summer Pop Single "Never Really Over"!
It feels like a teenage dream right now to be blessed with both a music video and new single by Katy Perry! If I'm honest, I miss “Dark Horse” and “Firework”-era Katy Perry, and I felt like her last album didn’t quite deliver that. Don’t get me wrong, I was a massive fan of “Swish Swish” and its catchy beat that made me feel like I was shopping in Hollister, but It wasn’t enough for me. This new song, “Never Really Over”, is bringing back that Katy Perry I know and love.
The song is about love and never really being able to get over a relationship. It’s relatable because I feel like we all have that “one that got away” and this song is an ode to them (although not the same as the actual "The One That Got Away", Katy's 2011 single). The video is fun and free-spirited, paying homage to what feels like the '60s with the clothes and the dancing. This is a tune that will be on repeat, get stuck in your head, and have you trying to sing along with its tongue-twisting chorus. Check it out below!
Perry co-wrote the song with Zedd, Dan Haywood, Leah Haywood, Norwegian singer Dagny, Gino Barletta, Michelle Buzz, Jason Gill, and Hayley Warner. Whew! That's a lot of cooks in the kitchen but they've managed to find the perfect recipe. This is assumed to be the first single from Katy's new upcoming album, but unfortunately there are no further details of when that might be. But in the meantime, we have a new Summer bop that is sure to top charts and propel Perry back to the Queen of Pop that she once was!
