ICYMI: Tyra Banks Bringing Body Positivity To Her Upcoming Series, "Beauty"!

Written by Julia Hutchens. Published: June 23 2019

Tyra Banks has been a key influencer in the beauty and fashion industry for 30 years now. From runway star to reality TV host, Banks has seen it all, so it only makes sense that the modeling guru would be cast to star in and executive produce Quibi’s new docuseries, “Beauty”. If you don’t know what Quibi is, you will hear about it soon enough. It's Jeffrey Katzenberg’s new short-form video platform, set to launch in April of next year.

The multi-part show will celebrate beauty, but not before analyzing the daunting questions of how and why societal standards have defined what "beauty" is for us. “As I look into the future, I see radical changes in both how people ‘attain beauty,’ and how the world perceives beauty,” Banks said in a statement. “Our docuseries aims to expand and redefine the definition of beauty as we know it, challenging why we accept certain beauty parameters and reject others, and examining the beliefs behind those judgments.”

Banks’s participation in the project is very on-brand. Over the course of her 30-year-long career, she has always made an effort to preach body positivity. Whether it was by posting inspirational quotes to her social media pages or by supporting plus-size models on her reality TV show "America’s Next Top Model", Banks wants everyone to know they are beautiful, even if society’s harsh standards don’t think so.

The mini-series is expected to be between 2-4 hours; however, each episode is divided into 10-minute segments. This may seem a little odd, especially because you can only use the streaming service on your mobile phone, but it's Quibi’s new approach to entertainment. Now you can fill the breaks in your day with “quick bites”.

This body-positive mini-series will be exclusively available on Quibi once it is released in April of 2020.
