ICYMI: Get Ready for a Killer New Season of "Mindhunter"!

Written by Kyla Killackey. Published: August 10 2019

October 2017 feels like forever ago, especially since we’ve been without any new episodes of "Mindhunter" since then, but I come bearing good news for fans! We finally have the premiere date and a first look at the long-awaited second season!

FBI agents Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) are back to track down a new killer in the sinister trailer for Season 2. This time, they’re following a string of murders through Atlanta, trying to get inside the mind of a monster. This season is based on the real-life events of 1979-81, when 28 African-American children, teens, and adults were found murdered, and questions the role of racism, politics, and power in the brutal events.

Creepy yet compelling serial killer Ed Kemper (Cameron Britton) is also back to give our agents a closer look inside the psychological side of things, and there ~might~ also be a cameo from one Charles Manson... (incidentally played by the same actor who portrayed him, albeit briefly, in Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, Damon Herriman; how's THAT for typecasting?!).

All 8 episodes of "Mindhunter"’s second season will be dropping on Netflix August 16. So who’s ready for more serial killer content?!
