Celebs Read 'Harry Potter & The Sorcerer's Stone' Aloud -- How & Where To Tune In!

Written by María Calvo. Published: May 15 2020

How are the Harry Potter actors making quarantine a little more enjoyable? By taking turns and reading Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone to their fans! And hey, not only is this perfect for nostalgic Potterheads but also for people who like the new Fantastic Beasts saga!

But who is taking part on this online initiative? And how can I watch it?! Scroll below to find all the answers you need!

When J.K. Rowling announced “Harry Potter At Home”, fans were delighted to find a way of keeping themselves distracted while revisiting their beloved wizarding world. As the official statement said:  “For over twenty years now, Hogwarts has been an escape for all – for readers and fans, young and old. During the strange times we now find ourselves in, we want to welcome you back to Hogwarts, where you will find a friendly retreat for you, your family, and those you are caring for.”

The idea has been well received, and among the online initiatives she proposed, the one that most people talked about was the online reading!

For the first week, Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter himself!) read the first chapter, “The Boy Who Lived”. The best thing was that it was both available as video or audio through the Wizarding World website and Spotify – and naturally, it was completely free!

Then, the talented Noma Dumezweni followed up and read aloud the second chapter! She’s the actress that played Hermione on the Harry Potter and The Cursed Child play, and she was very thrilled to be a part of the “Harry Potter At Home” experience: “Being allocated chapters not knowing who else would be involved feels like a lovely game! I’m very happy with mine, how could you not be?”

And last week, we got even luckier when Eddie Redmayne (aka Newt Scamander) read out loud Chapter 3 – and now the expectations are running high!

Who’ll be the next artist on board? We don’t know yet, but some names that have been confirmed are: Stephen Fry (narrator of the HP audiobooks), David Beckham, Dakota Fanning, and Claudia Kim – with more are yet to be announced!

Plus, fanarts are also being featured in the videos, which is even more engaging and magical! You can send your own work for the chance to be featured here!

So get comfy and start re-reading (kind of) the Harry Potter series now!
