Get ready to travel back in time to a simpler and more terrifying era: the '80s.

For the past couple months, FX has been quietly running teaser promos for the 9th season Ryan Murphy’s horror drama, "American Horror Story", entitled "1984". After having tackled the future in the most recent season, "Apocalypse", many wondered where "AHS" could possibly go from here. Well, they are going to the past, that's where! Judging by the teaser, the new season will be inspired by iconic 1980s slasher movie franchises like Halloween and Friday The 13th, so strap on your hockey masks, sharpen your knives, and tease your bangs, cuz it’s slicin' time! The teaser featured a woman being chased through the woods by an unknown assailant. It is absolutely chilling.

The plot for the upcoming AHS is still shrouded in mystery, but executive producer Tim Minear previously teased that the new season is “awesome” -- "I think it's gonna be really scary but a lot of fun, like it always is. And that if you have a taste for '80s horror, you're in for a treat," Minear told The Wrap in May 2019. Even though the new season will be paying homage to '80s horror flicks, knowing "AHS", it will be full of new and weird takes and twists.

While the teaser did not reveal further information of its cast, Murphy previously announced that "AHS" alum Emma Roberts would be returning, playing the girlfriend of Olympian Gus Kenworthy’s character. However,  Evan Peters, who has appeared in every AHS season to date, is not likely to return for this one. Peters previously suggested that he planned on taking a break from the horror series.

"American Horror Story: 1984" is sure to bring big thrills and even bigger hair this Fall, so find a safe hiding place, because it will be here before you know it!
