4 Totally Underrated But Highly Addictive TV Comedies!

Written by María Calvo. Published: March 30 2020

Sure, “The Office” and “Friends” are great, but sometimes we want to watch something different that’s still hilarious. That’s why we decided to make a list of our top underrated yet priceless comedies!

1. "Miracle Workers"

This TBS anthological series were a huge surprise last year.

Starring Daniel Radcliffe, each season has a new, crazier concept -- While the first season was about 2 angels trying to stop God from ending Earth, the second one is set during the Dark Ages (and follows a sensitive prince who’s very bad at blood spilling and such matters).

I know, I know. It really doesn’t sound like comedy, but trust me on this one: I couldn’t stop laughing! All the jokes play with our expectations and create awkward, hilarious moments that truly stand out from other sitcoms. Both seasons are definitely worth a shot!

2. "American Vandal"

This Netflix series makes fun of Netflix docu-series, and has therefore earned my respect.

If you love (or hate) true crime documentaries, you need to watch this satirical mockumentary about a dumb incident at an American high school. The twist? The investigation is told using all the clichés, melodrama, and suspense that we love about this morbid genre!

Seriously, guys, not enough people know about this show and that needs to change. But don’t just take my word: watch the trailer below and see it for yourselves!

3. "Don’t Trust The B**** In Apartment 23"

If you are looking for a more conventional sitcom, stop scrolling!

I have good news for you: you’re going to love “Don’t Trust The B**** In Apartment 23”. The story follows recently heart-broken June as she moves into a suspicious and cheap apartment with Chloe (Krysten Ritter, aka Jessica Jones), a frivolous but sometimes relatable diva.

Sure, she is always scheming and dramatically rolling her eyes, but we love her for it.

Sadly it only lasted two seasons, but it’s a much more classic approach than the other ones -- and in some ways it even reminds me of “The Big Bang Theory”!

4. "What We Do In The Shadows"

As proven with Thor: Ragnarok and Jojo Rabbit, anything Taika Waititi touches is invaluable.

His cult fave mockumentary feature What We Do In The Shadows (which he co-wrote, co-directed, and co-starred in) followed the lives of 3 modern vampires as roommates in New Zealand, and the idea and execution was so surreal that it quickly built a loyal fanbase.

The movie was so fun to watch that it led to a TV show – and let me just say, it did not disappoint.

The series approaches the vampire genre in a very refreshing way: by not taking it too seriously. In fact, it might be just an excuse to create awkward situations and silences, but I’m not complaining! Also, it has a lot of celebrity cameos, like Tilda Swinton, Wesley Snipes, and Evan Rachel Wood.

You can watch the first season right now on Hulu and check out Season 2 when it premieres on FX next month!
