We love a good coming-of-age movie! With relatable characters, blends of comedy and romance, and songs that make you feel like the main character, it’s no surprise that TikTok loves them too!

Need a movie to cuddle up with this weekend? We’ve got you covered. Whether it’s an old favorite or a new discovery, these movies have something for everyone. Below, find 4 different coming-of-age movies that TikTok is watching and loving right now. We guarantee you’ll love them too!

1. The Perks of Being a Wallflower

No movie conveys the ultimate main character moment like The Perks of Being a Wallflower does — speeding through a tunnel while standing in the sunroof, hands up, and music blasting. There are so many anxieties and ecstasies that come with being a teenager, and this movie shows them all with depth of storytelling and characters that you’ll come to love, brought to life by incredible performances from Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, and Ezra Miller. Charlie, played by Lerman, starts high school as a loner and finds friendship and love through seniors Sam and Patrick. Equal parts funny, sad, and romantic, The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a perfect movie to remind you of the strength of friendship and the importance of self-love.

2. Dead Poets Society

Lovers of the dark academia aesthetic, this one’s for you! Set in the 1950s on a private, all-boys boarding school campus, the movie explores topics such as friendship, living life to the fullest, and why breaking the rules can sometimes be even greater than following them. Shy Todd Anderson (played by a baby Ethan Hawke) comes to the school in the shadow of his older brother and finds solace and inspiration in the Dead Poets Sociey, a club formed by the students after learning about how wonderful poetry can be from Professor Keating (the late, great Robin Williams). This movie is perfect for a cozy night in, where you’ll laugh and probably cry as the students form unbreakable bonds and discover their power.

3. The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement

The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement gives us coming-of-age, royalty-style, in a story that everyone can relate to. It’s no surprise that TikTok is a big fan of this lighthearted, funny movie that explores Mia Thermopolis (Anne Hathaway) under pressure as she figures out how to be Queen in Genovia while maneuvering her way through an arranged marriage plot. It has European escapism, a delicious enemies-to-lovers romance with a young Chris Pine, and the best sleepover scene in cinema history. We love a mattress surfing moment! A sequel that lives up to its predecessor, Royal Engagement is best watched with friends, wearing pajamas and slippers, and snacking on your favorite sweet treats.

4. Little Women (2019)

TikTok is falling in love with period dramas, particularly Greta Gerwig’s 2019 iteration of Little Women. With its classic story of growing up, fighting for what you want, and sisterly love, this movie will make you smile and cry within the same scene. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that the cast is so amazing! If you connected to the portrayal of the struggle to grow up and become your own person in Lady Bird, you’re guaranteed to love Little Women. TikTok particularly loves focusing on the relationships between Amy (Florence Pugh), Laurie (Timothée Chalamet), and Jo (Saoirse Ronan), a love triangle that continues to capture audiences after a hundred and fifty years.
