Zoe Saldana struggles with parenting her twin boys
Zoe Saldana uses caffeine and bossing her husband around to cope with being a mother of twins.
The 38-year-old actress has twins Cy and Bowie, born in November 2014, with artist spouse Marco Perego. Balancing a busy career with parenthood can be extremely difficult, so Zoe relies on various other means to manage.
Asked during an interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on
Monday night (18Jul16), the host asked Zoe just how she copes.
"Caffeine, and a husband that I just boss around, ‘Marco do this,
Marco do that’," Zoe smiled.
The Star Trek Beyond actress also sometimes resorts to a very
unusual method of coping with the twins.
"I’m the best at going, ‘Oh hi, hey, can you hold (him)?’ And the
kindness of strangers, it's amazing!" she added.
When Stephen asked Zoe if she meant she literally hands her twins
to strangers, the actress laughed: "I do! Did I mention that I have
20-month-old identical twin boys?"
Zoe can next be seen reprising her role as Uhura in Star Trek
Beyond. The movie also stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and the
late Anton Yelchin, who was killed aged 27 in a freak accident at
his home in Studio City, California, last month (Jun16).
Speaking about the tragic passing of her co-star, Zoe said: "He had
just turned 18 when we met him, he was the youngest one of the crew
and I almost feel like he was the wisest one, so it’s a terrible
loss. We’re mourning, he’s an irreplaceable person and the kindest
person and he loved what he did.
"So I'm here today, and the rest of the cast, we are here promoting
the movie mainly for him, because he would have wanted that."
The actress certainly has a lot on her plate as she will be
reprising her roles as Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and
Neytiri in the next three Avatar movies.
"So I’m 38 now and I think I’m going to be shooting space movies
until I’m like, 45," Zoe laughed.
