Zendaya: 'Young people shouldn't get serious about love'
Zendaya isn't planning on falling head over heels in love in the near future, because she is too young for a serious romance.
The 20-year-old has been falsely linked to her Spider-Man: Homecoming co-star Tom Holland, but she insists she's not in a serious relationship right now, revealing a cheating ex has made her realize most young people are not ready to commit.
"I'm so anti being in a committed relationship when you're young and people are learning and growing, because when people are young they make bad decisions sometimes because they don't know any better," she says in a video for her online series, in which she dishes out relationship advice. "It doesn't mean they don't know the difference between right and wrong, it just means that they're still in the experimental phase in their life where they haven't made the right decisions yet."
However, she urges her fans to be careful about categorising all suitors as potential cheaters because of break-ups like the one she went through, and to just be aware of what is going on in the relationship.
"I would say follow your gut," she continues. "If you feel (like someone is cheating), it's probably happening. If you feel like you can't trust somebody... you shouldn't be in a relationship with them."
"Something I learned is it's very hard to be in a relationship when the both of you are still figuring out life," she adds. "You cannot change anybody. You cannot make someone grow up faster than they're supposed to."
And she encourages her shy followers to pursue a person they are attracted to, despite all the negative experiences that could come out of the relationship.
"I've been too shy before," she says. "I just recently got courage enough to be like, 'Listen, I like you, are we doing this?'"
