Yara Shahidi carries Buddha statues and crystals in her handbag
Yara Shahidi packs her handbags with unusual objects such as Buddha statues and crystals.
The Black-ish actress is quickly rising up the Hollywood style ranks, and has recently stepped out at A-list events wearing gowns from the likes of Prada, Zimmerman and Phillip Lim.
While Yara always dazzles in her glamorous attire, fans may be surprised to learn of the fun objects she carries around in her purses.
"I have different mementos in each bag," she told Us Weekly. "I collected Buddha statues when I was little, so sometimes those. Once I was clearing out a bag and a big amethyst fell out. I was like, 'That's where it was!'"
In addition to her favorite crystals, Yara will ensure she has plenty of snacks to keep her going, and is partial to a nut mix from Trader Joe's. She never leaves home without other essentials too, including her Tory Burch wallet, Burt's Bees Lip Shine in Smooch, peppermint oil, bobby pins and some special beauty tools.
"Usually, I use a jade roller on my face with some coconut oil or an essential oil. It's a nice little wake-up call," said the 17-year-old.
Yara, who is to appear in her own spin-off show titled Grown-ish next year (18), has also figured out a trick for staying comfortable at celebrity bashes. Instead of struggling to walk in high heels all night, she has learned to keep a pair of flats at the ready.
"When I'm at events, my mama will carry ballet flats or sneakers. There's a pair Tory Burch just came out with. I was at the MTV Movie Awards and I popped those on after," she added.
