Wiz Khalifa is over dressing 'like a kid'
Wiz Khalifa is focused on evolving his personal style to a more grown up look.
The Los Angeles-based rapper, who is working on a new album and about to head on tour with Snoop Dogg later this month (Jul16), has decided it's time to reinvent his look and has employed stylist Lauren Matos to overhaul his closet with more tailored pieces.
Lauren has introduced Wiz to pieces from high-end designers,
including Saint Laurent and Gucci, to help him move on from his
favorite brands, Palace and Supreme, but without diminishing his
favored streetwear look.
"I don’t want to look like a mannequin," he told The New York
Times. "I feel like when people start getting money, they start
dressing weird. But I also want to graduate my style. I’m 28 years
old, so you can’t dress like no little kid anymore."
Now Wiz, real name Cameron Jibril Thomaz, shares that he's all
about what he describes as his "party shirts", which are typically
nice button-ups made from silk, often printed with "crazy" designs.
He also loves a black bomber jacket with gold zips that Lauren had
customised to fit the heavily tattooed star's lithe form.
"We get a lot of stuff custom-made. I’m really skinny, so a lot of
pieces, unless they’re from certain designers, they’re not built
for my body. Like this T-shirt I have on, it’s custom and even has
my own tag in it," he explained.
Otherwise, the 28-year-old says he's focused on bringing more
simplicity into his wardrobe, focusing on white T-shirts, black
skinny jeans, basic jackets and Gucci loafers. And the Remember You
rapper really likes how he looks in crisp white ensembles, which he
tends to accessorise with gold chains and his favorite Rolex
watch.
"I like to wear all white: white shirt, white hat, white jeans. It
just looks awesome. I look like a little scoop of ice cream," he
laughed.
