Tracy Morgan upset by Walmart defense
Funnyman Tracy Morgan has fired back at allegations he's partly responsible for the injuries he suffered during a car crash earlier this year (Jun14).
Lawyers representing supermarket chain Walmart, whose driver caused the accident in New Jersey, suggested Morgan should have been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash as part of their defense.
The claim has left Morgan, who lost his mentor and best friend
Jimmy McNair in the pile-up, fuming and he has responded.
The comic says, "I can’t believe Walmart is blaming me for an
accident that they caused. My friends and I were doing nothing
wrong."
He adds, "I want to thank my fans for sticking with me during this
difficult time. I love you all. I’m fighting hard every day to get
back."
Morgan and the other survivors of the crash are suing Walmart,
accusing bosses of negligence and alleging company executives
should have known driver Kevin Roper had been awake for more than
24 hours and that his drive from his home in Georgia to work in
Delaware was "unreasonable".
Roper stands accused causing the multi-vehicle accident after
allegedly falling asleep at the wheel of his truck.
