Taylor Swift visits sick fan in hospital
Pop star Taylor Swift showed off her caring side earlier this week (begs29Apr13) by visiting an unconscious fan in hospital.
The Red singer headed to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Monday (29Apr13) to spend time with Lauren Murphy, who suffered severe head trauma and underwent brain surgery after she was hit by a car on 19 April (13).
Swift chatted with Murphy's parents, posed for pictures and also
spoke with the injured fan's siblings on the phone.
Murphy's parents have started a relief fund to help pay for
treatment for their daughter, who remains in a
stable-yet-unconscious state, and were overwhelmed when Swift
donated an undisclosed sum to the family.
David Murphy posted a snap of the singer's visit on a Facebook.com
page set up in the wake of his daughter's accident and later wrote
on the fund's official website, "(Swift) was able to lift (our)
spirits. We are so thankful to Taylor... We are also extremely
thankful to Taylor Swift for her very generous donation to Lauren's
recovery fund.
"We are unsure what the future holds for Lauren - especially during
this difficult waiting period - but knowing that so many people,
including Taylor Swift, are supporting our family with donations
and prayers gives us confidence that we can get through every
challenge sent our way."
