Taylor Swift moves into New York City rental - report
Taylor Swift is reportedly moving into a new home in New York City while her Tribeca apartment is under renovation.
The Shake It Off singer is reportedly having extensive renovations done to her home in the Tribeca neighborhood, which she moved into in 2014, and has relocated while the work is carried out.
According to TMZ.com, she is moving to a rental in the West
Village, which costs $40,000 a month, and plans to stay there for
about a year. The four-storey property has five bedrooms, six
bathrooms, a basement, private garage and an indoor pool.
The home reportedly belongs to David Aldea, a senior businessman at
the Soho House members' club chain. A picture obtained by TMZ shows
a man bringing empty cardboard boxes from the property to a nearby
car.
Taylor bought the apartment from The Lord of the Rings director
Peter Jackson, while Ian McKellen was lodging there for free during
his stint on Broadway.
The actor revealed he was evicted so she could move in during an
interview with Gay Star News in 2015. He said, “When I was living
in Peter Jackson’s apartment in New York, Taylor Swift bought it
while I was there and I was thrown out before I wanted to
leave!”
Taylor also has homes in Beverly Hills, Nashville, Tennessee and in
Rhode Island. It was reported in April (16) that Taylor was
upgrading her $25 million California mansion, which she bought in
September 2015. Aerial pictures of the property showed the roof
covered in blue tarpaulin while a number of builders' trucks are
parked nearby.
Taylor recently split from DJ boyfriend Calvin Harris after dating
for just over a year. He confirmed the news on Twitter, writing,
"The only truth here is that a relationship came to an end & what
remains is a huge amount of love and respect."
