Taylor Swift donates $50,000 to young cancer sufferer
Pop star Taylor Swift has donated $50,000 to help cover the medical expenses of an 11-year-old leukaemia sufferer.
The Shake it Off hitmaker's generosity stunned the family of Naomi Oakes, who set up a crowdfunding page to help pay for her treatment for acute myelogenous leukaemia.
Oakes was due to to attend Swift's concert in Phoenix, Arizona in
August (15), but she will not be able to make it after being
diagnosed with the illness last month (Jun15).
Upon hearing the news, the singer donated $50,000, the full amount
the family was hoping to raise, and added a note on the
GoFundMe.com page, writing, "To the beautiful and brave Naomi, I'm
sorry you have to miss it (the concert), but there will always be
more concerts. Let's focus on getting you feeling better. I'm
sending the biggest hugs to you and your family."
Oakes' family later uploaded a video of the little girl discovering
news of the donation and added in a caption, "Naomi was so amazed
by Taylor Swift's donation and amazing shout out to her. Thank you
Taylor Swift. You're an amazing caring person, and our family
thanks you from the bottom of our hearts."
