Starstruck Daisy Ridley singing with Streisand
Breakout actress Daisy Ridley will be showing off her singing skills in a duet with music icon Barbra Streisand.
The Star Wars: The Force Awakens leading lady doesn't have an album to her name, but she has previously shown off snippets of her musical talent, including a brief duet with co-star Oscar Isaac singing holiday classic Baby It's Cold Outside.
Her other Star Wars cohorts have also praised her singing after
witnessing her belt out tunes onset, and director J.J. Abrams
revealed to E! News last week (ends28Feb16) that Daisy had a big
music project in the works.
"One day on set, she just started singing and had the most
beautiful voice I ever heard," J.J. gushed. "On Saturday, she is
going to record a song with an unnamed person, but let's just say a
massive superstar."
Daisy, 23, coyly confirmed the news, but added that everyone's
guesses about who the special guest may be "are way off".
"When J.J. said 'superstar,' he meant a legendary awe-inspiring
jaw-dropping superstar," she teased.
The actress finally revealed her mystery duet partner on Tuesday
(01Mar16), when she posted an Instagram photo of herself in a
recording studio alongside music legend Barbra.
"I'm gonna end this spate of pictures detailing my insane weekend
with this... Ummmmmmmmmmmm...," she wrote.
Daisy isn't the only star Barbra has recruited for her new album -
last month (Feb16), she hit the studio with Jamie Foxx to record
Climb Every Mountain, from movie musical The Sound of Music
The duets hint at a possible follow-up to Streisand's 2014 album
Partners, for which she covered classic songs with male performers
including Stevie Wonder, John Legend, John Mayer, Lionel Richie,
Michale Buble, and even Elvis Presley from an earlier
recording.
