Stars honoured at Fashion Week event
Katy Perry and Mariah Carey were among the stars honoured for their style choices at a New York Fashion Week event hosted by Harper's Bazaar magazine.
Editors of the publication held the Icons bash at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan to celebrate women in fashion, and they also honoured stars of the entertainment industry including Perry and Carey, along with actresses Jessica Chastain and Dakota Johnson and media mogul Oprah Winfrey.
Perry performed a 30-minute set at the event, and ahead of the show
she paid tribute to fellow honouree Carey, saying, "You paved the
way for so many of us."
During the short gig, Perry also took time out to honour the
assistants who help the designers bring Fashion Week together and
she dedicated her hit track Firework to them, saying, "This next
song is a song I want you to remember when you're going about your
day and you rip your pants, you have two Band-Aids fall off of the
back of your heel, you're sweating, there's coffee all over your
blouse. I'm talking about all the assistants here. And you feel,
maybe, like a little plastic bag. We're all human. We all start
somewhere."
Other guests at the event included TV star/model Kendall Jenner,
singer Rita Ora and model/actress Kate Upton.
