Soap star Freddie Smith charged with DUI

Actor Freddie Smith has been charged with felony vehicular assault and misdemeanor driving under the influence (DUI) relating to a car crash in October (14).

The Days of Our Lives star sustained minor injuries when he misjudged a curve in the road and subsequently flipped the car over near the city of Ashtabula in Ohio.

Smith's girlfriend Alyssa Tabit, who was a passenger in the car, is recovering after suffering critical injuries.

On Tuesday (18Nov14), local authorities told the Associated Press that Smith was driving with a blood-alcohol level of .093, well over Ohio's legal limit of .08.

Smith's attorney has declined to comment on the charges.
