Shakira will no longer perform in Cologne, Germany on Wednesday (08Nov17) due to vocal problems.

The Colombian popstar announced she was pulling out of the gig at the city's Lanxess Arena in a post on her Instagram page on Tuesday (07Nov17).

"To my German fans, during these last few days of rehearsals I have unfortunately strained my vocal cords and doctors have ordered me to go on vocal rest to avoid any greater damage that could keep me from performing," she wrote.

"I'm devastated to have to miss our first show on November 8th in Koln. I love my German fans so much and was looking forward to sharing my first show with you."

The Hips Don't Lie singer explained that executives at Live Nation, who are promoting her tour, are trying to reschedule the gig for another date.

Shakira added that she hoped her doctors would give her the all clear to sing in time for the next date on her El Dorado world tour in Paris, France on Friday (10Nov17).

She signed off her message by writing, "Thanks as always from the bottom of my heart for all the support and love you've shown me heading into this tour. I hope to make it worth the wait and to see you all very soon!"

Meanwhile, Shakira recently shut down reports she had split from her soccer star boyfriend Gerard Pique.

In a statement to Hola! magazine, her representative insisted rumors the pair were no longer living together were started by people who "want to harm" the Barcelona player, adding, "Everything is the same."

The couple have two sons together; Milan, four, and Sasha, two.
