Shad Moss won CSI: Cyber role with last-minute audition video
Actor/rapper Shad Moss won his role on new TV series Csi: Cyber after recording an audition tape during a commercial break of music countdown show 106 & Park.
Moss, also known by his MC name Bow Wow, stars as an FBI agent in the programme, which is the latest spin-off series from the popular CSI: Crime Scene Investigation franchise.
However, the hip-hop star, who has turned to acting and TV
presenting in recent years, only had limited time to audition for
the role.
He says, "At the time I was hosting 106 & Park (in New York City),
and my mother had called me in the middle of a commercial break,
and she said, 'CSI: Cyber is coming up. They want you to audition
for it.'
"I remember just going to my dressing room, flipping open my Mac
Book, and my friend was reading lines with me. I literally had to
do it in 10 minutes, because we were on the air live and I did it
in between during the commercial break... I did it, sent it over,
asked my boy, 'Is it good?' and he said, 'Yeah, I think this is
gonna work', and I said, I trust you.'
Next thing I know, I get a call from (executive producer) Anthony
(Zuiker), and he was like, 'I got a plane ticket for you. Come to
L.A."
Moss appears in the series with newly-crowned Oscar winner Patricia
Arquette and James Van Der Beek.
