Selena Gomez to be honoured at Billboard Awards
Selena Gomez is set to receive a prize for her chart comeback at the 2015 Billboard Women in Music Awards.
The Come and Get It singer stepped away from the limelight last year (14) and recently made a return to the charts with her new solo album Revival, which debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 rundown this month (15).
Her first single Good For You was also her highest charting song to
date, and she is set to be honoured for her success with the Chart
Topper prize at the ceremony.
"In the last few months, Selena has broken onto the scene as an
adult, and come into her own as an artist with the success of
Revival..." says awards show boss Janice Min. "We want to highlight
this moment for a woman who has become a role model for many, a
feminist, an independent voice whose new album truly showcases her
as a mature artist."
Lady Gaga is set to receive the 2015 Woman of the Year prize at the
ceremony in New York on 11 December (15).
Selena previously revealed she took a hiatus after she was
diagnosed with autoimmune disease lupus.
"I was diagnosed with lupus, and I've been through chemotherapy,"
she explained. "That's what my break was really about. I could've
had a stroke. I wanted so badly to say, 'You guys have no idea. I'm
in chemotherapy. You're a**holes.' I locked myself away until I was
confident and comfortable again."
