Sam Smith enjoys Boston vacation with family
Sam Smith had a much more enjoyable visit to Boston, Massachusetts where he underwent vocal surgery a year ago, after taking in the sights on a family vacation.
The Writing’s on the Wall singer was forced to scrap dates and appearances and subsequently underwent surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital Voice Center after suffering a vocal cord hemorrhage last May (15).
And last week (ends29May16), he returned to the city for a holiday
with his parents and assistant under better terms.
According to People magazine, the British star kicked off the
vacation on Wednesday (25May16) at iconic baseball venue Fenway
Park, where they watched the Boston Red Sox claim victory over the
Colorado Rockies.
The next day, the group spent the day walking the cobblestone
streets of Beacon Hill, and grabbed beverages at a nearby Starbucks
before heading to landmarks Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall for some
shopping and lunch.
Sam and his family had a bite to eat at Mija Cantina & Tequila Bar
in Faneuil Hall, and he was kind enough to snap a selfie with a fan
called Will Heffernan, who told People the Oscar winner was kind
during their quick meeting.
"He took the picture quickly and stealthily so no one else would
bother him," Will tells the publication. "But he said 'Thank you'
and 'I hope you enjoy your day.' He was very nice, but low
key."
The staff at the restaurant also snagged a picture with Sam and
posted their group shot on Instagram, with the simple caption, "It
was a pleasure to meet you, Sam."
His multi-day visit had many locals predicted he would surprise the
crowd at the Boston Calling Music Festival by reuniting with
frequent collaborators Disclosure, but Sam had already left town by
the time the electronic dance duo took the stage on Sunday night
(30May16).
