Ryan Reynolds eyes another superhero outing with Hugh Jackman
Ryan Reynolds is eager to reunite with his X-Men Origins: Wolverine co-star Hugh Jackman for a new superhero film.
The actors' outing in the 2009 Marvel movie received bad reviews from fans and critics alike, and while Ryan was not a fan of his Deadpool character in the film, he was able to give the comic book creation a revamp for his own blockbuster earlier this year (16).
A Deadpool sequel is currently in the early phase of production,
but the 40-year-old is already looking ahead to the future, and is
hoping to have another crack at a film featuring both popular X-Men
characters.
"I want Deadpool and Wolverine in a movie together," he tells
Entertainment Weekly. "What we're gonna have to do is convince
Hugh."
Ryan explains he enjoyed working with Hugh on a personal level,
too.
"Hugh Jackman is one of the best human beings," he continues. "Part
of the reason I want to do a Deadpool/Wolverine movie is not just
because I think the two would light the screen on fire, but I
genuinely love the guy."
Jackman will reprise his superhero role in Logan in March (17), but
he previously revealed the film will be his last outing as the
mutant superhero.
Meanwhile, Deadpool 2 will be directed by David Leitch following
the departure of original filmmaker Tim Miller.
A release date has yet to be announced, but Ryan adds, "We're just
in the development stage but we're about to move into
production."
