John Legend and Chrissy Teigen suffered sliced fingertips in mandoline disaster
John Legend and his wife Chrissy Teigen once ended up in the emergency room after both slicing off their fingertips while cutting potatoes.
Model-turned-TV personality and cook Chrissy reveals she had recruited the singer to help her out in the kitchen as they hosted an American football viewing party at their home, but their efforts to save time by using a mandoline to prepare a scalloped potatoes dish didn't end well for either one of them.
"I gave John the task, and within the first three swipes, he cut
the tip of his finger clean off," she told Delish. "He refused
medical attention because of whatever was happening at that point
in the game, so I told him to go sit and let me 'show him how it's
done.'"
However, Chrissy confesses she was just as clumsy with the sharp
blade.
"First swipe - first! - I sliced off the exact same finger tip,"
she recalled, adding, "We have a great photo of us both at the
urgent care center."
Despite the bad experience, the potato recipe, which she included
in her recent cookbook Cravings: Recipes for All the Food You Want
to Eat, still remains a favorite for her family.
"It's my ultimate comfort food," she smiled. "I love it. It makes
people so happy."
Chrissy is currently working on the follow-up to her hit recipe
collection with her writing partner Adeena Sussman, and they showed
off some of their taste tests on Instagram last month (Nov16).
Among the early dishes they tried out were a blueberry pancake
breakfast and a seafood meal with mussels.
