Robin Thicke escapes MTV performance furor with family trip

Robin Thicke has escaped the drama surrounding his controversial Miley Cyrus collaboration at Sunday's (25Aug13) MTV Video Music Awards with a family vacation to Florida.

The singer has come under fire for his part in the provocative duet, when he teamed up with Cyrus for an X-rated version of his hit track Blurred Lines.

Although the former Hannah Montana star has bared the brunt of the furor over her explicit routine, critics have slammed family man Thicke for going ahead with the performance, in which Cyrus rubbed up against him and groped him with a foam hand.

But rather than defend himself, the star jetted off to Miami to focus on having a good time with his wife Paula Patton and their son Julian.

The trio was spotted having fun in the surf on the beach on Wednesday (28Aug13).

And the scandal hasn't hurt Thicke in the charts - Blurred Lines has kept Katy Perry off the top spot after scoring its 12th week atop the Billboard Hot 100.
