Rihanna is moving her Diamond Ball to New York.

The Umbrella singer hosted the first two charity galas in Los Angeles, but this year's (17) event will take place in September at Cipriani Wall Street.

"New York always offers the perfect backdrop for an amazing event, which is why I am thrilled to have Diamond Ball there," she says in a statement. "It's a great way to celebrate the Clara Lionel Foundation's accomplishments, as well as bring awareness to our mission globally (sic). I know it'll be a night to remember!"

Rihanna's last Diamond Ball was held in Santa Monica, California in 2015, and raised over $3 million (GBP2.4 million) for her Clara Lionel Foundation. The singer founded the organization, which provides support to underprivileged communities, in 2012. It is named after her grandparents Clara and Lionel Braithwaite.

There's no word yet who will appear at the gala this year, but Brad Pitt and Kevin Hart have previously served as guest speakers and she and Lionel Richie have performed.

Rihanna's charitable efforts were rewarded last month (28Feb17) when she was handed Harvard University's Humanitarian Award.
