Reba McEntire to headline hunger charity concert
Country icon Reba Mcentire is to headline a star-studded concert in support of hunger charity Feeding America.
The Fancy hitmaker is the newest spokesperson for the organisation's Outnumber Hunger campaign, which has helped provide more than 35 million meals to starving citizens in America.
She has now announced a special televised concert called Reba and
Friends Outnumber Hunger will take place on Friday (17Apr15) and
air on Saturday (18Apr15).
McEntire's Big Machine Label Group labelmates including Tim McGraw,
Rascal Flatts, Florida Georgia Line, and the Eli Young Band will
all take part in the one-off gig.
The Oklahoma native says, "I grew up on an 8,000-acre cattle ranch.
We had lots of meat... Everybody was sharing and it was a
community-type thing. This was shocking to me when they started
giving me the statistics of how many people are going hungry in the
land of the plenty. I said I really want to be a part and get the
word out so we can help our neighbor and get some food on their
table."
