Superproducer Pharrell Williams is sporting a black eye after a playful incident in the kitchen with his wife reportedly went awry.
Unfounded rumors suggest Pharrell suffered the injury after clashing with his longtime friend and collaborator Jay Z over a failed deal relating to the rapper's music streaming service Tidal.
However, one source tells TMZ.com the accident actually happened at home with the Happy star's wife, Helen. The insider claims the couple was "joking around in the kitchen" when a spatula "flipped up and hit him in the eye".
Pharrell, who signed on to work with Apple Music earlier this spring (15), has yet to comment on the reports, but he made no effort to cover up his bruise as he attended the Shining A Light: A Concert for Progress on Race in America at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium on Wednesday (18Nov15), when he also performed.
The gig, aimed at healing fractured race relations, also featured sets from artists including Ed Sheeran, Nicki Minaj, the Zac Brown Band, Sia, Sting, and Bruce Springsteen and John Legend, who kicked off the show with a rendition of The Boss' track American Skin (41 Shots), which he wrote about a 1999 police shooting.
Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman also took a moment to pay tribute to those who died in the horrific gun and bomb attacks in Paris, France last week (13Nov15).
"Tonight, as we mourn the loss of life in Paris, let us rededicate ourselves to erasing the hate and to creating an America where we can all move on up together toward justice, community, love, brotherhood, sisterhood and freedom," he told the crowd.
The concert is due to air in the on Friday night (20Nov15). Proceeds from the event are being donated to the United Way charity's Fund for Progress on Race in America, which hopes to heal racial divides in the country.
