Penelope Cruz confirms baby news

Penelope Cruz has confirmed reports she is expecting a second child after announcing she is skipping the Goya Awards in Spain on Sunday (17Feb13) because she is too pregnant to make the long trip.

Earlier this month (Feb13) multiple outlets suggested the Vicky Cristina Barcelona star and her actor husband Javier Bardem were set to welcome a sibling for their two-year-old son Leo, but the couple refused to confirm the baby news.

Now the 38 year old, who is currently working in the U.S., has been forced to comment on the rumors after declining an invitation to attend the 27th annual ceremony, where she's nominated for a Best Actress award.

Speaking to Spanish station TVE, she told reporters she was "tremendously happy and excited" to become a mom again, adding she wouldn't be flying overseas for the Goyas due to her health and work commitments.
