Pamela Anderson joined by brother for NYC Marathon
Actress Pamela Anderson turned Sunday's (03Nov13) New York City Marathon into a family affair by recruiting her brother to run with her.
The former Baywatch babe laced up her sneakers to take part in the 26.2-mile (42.16-kilometre) race through the streets of the Big Apple as she raised money for charity, but she didn't do it alone - she was joined by her sporty sibling, Gerry.
Anderson, who announced her intentions to run in August (13), left
her training a little late - in September (13), she confessed she
had yet to actually start pounding the pavement, instead using her
elliptical and Stairmaster machines at home to build up her
stamina.
She said, "I really haven't attacked the running thing. I've never
been a runner. I've never even run across the street hardly
before."
However, Anderson managed to complete the feat in five hours, 41
minutes and three seconds to claim her finishing medal - and she
proudly showed off the award on her Twitter.com page.
She also gave her sibling a shout out, writing, "So proud of my
brother Gerry. Thank G. For running next to me today - love you
lots (sic)".
Anderson managed to raise more than $75,000 for the J/P Haitian
Relief Organization's The Long Run for Haiti campaign, boosting
donations to Sean Penn's charity, which was set up in the wake of
the devastating 2010 earthquake.
