Nicki Minaj's extra-long pink braids for Motorsport video took 36 hours
Nicki Minaj sat for a bottom-numbing 36 hours while the pink braided hairstyle she wears in the video for track Motorsport was created.
The head-turning style, which social media users have dubbed “Pink Lemonade 2.0,” takes its inspiration from the beautiful braided cornrows Beyonce rocked in her Formation video. They were re-created in Nicki's signature pink for the video by the Lemonade singer's stylist Kim Kimble.
Nicki has been rocking bottom-grazing wigs and weaves for some time now, created by Beyonce's other hair stylist, Neal Ferinah, but on this occasion it is Los Angeles-based stylist Kimble who is the guru behind Nicki's latest look.
According to editors at BET, the look took over a day and a half to create, and required the assistance of a team of six additional stylists to complete it for Nicki's video spot for the song, which she appears on with Migos and Bodak Yellow rapper Cardi B.
Kimble posted a behind-the-scenes video of the look in action to her Instagram account and Nicki's reaction to the finished visual in which she tosses around her pink mane is more than enthusiastic.
"Insane! That was insane," she praised.
The Only rapper has been rocking floor-grazing hair since March 2017 and shows no signs of leaving the look behind as we head towards 2018. In fact, she's inspired some copycats of her own with the look.
In July, the Feelin' Myself rapper took an unnamed company to task for trying to sell a $4,000 'Nicki Minaj inspired' wig that's a carbon copy of the floor-swept hair she's been rocking in recent months, prompting her to call them out on Instagram.
"Chile (sic) they out here charging 4 racks for a Nicki wig. Can I get a small consultant fee? I'd like to get a cpl coinz too if possible sis!," she wrote in a post alongside a picture of the luxury wig.
