Nick Jonas takes style tips from Elvis Costello
Singer Nick Jonas credits British rocker Elvis Costello for his style choices.
The 23-year-old's look has really evolved since he first broke on the music scene as the youngest member of the Jonas Brothers a decade ago, but while some guys his age take inspiration from their peers, Nick looks to a music legend for fashion tips.
"I always admired Elvis Costello’s style," he revealed to People
Magazine. "He makes bold choices, like taking classic tailoring and
turning it into a punk edge. I try to take that same classic
approach with a bit of a twist.”
Nick always looks sharp, whether he's wearing a casual jeans and
jacket ensemble or a full tuxedo, and now he has revealed the
must-have items he always has to have with him when he's on the
road.
“All men should have a classic leather jacket," he said. "I’ve had
a Margiela biker jacket for years that’s got a few miles on it. On
top of that, I think it’s important to own a great black suit. When
I travel I always make sure I bring a suit. You never know when
you’re going to need it.”
While Nick likes to look good, he tries to stick to a budget, but
admits he allowed himself a bit of a splurge after his single
Jealous went to Number One last year (15).
"I bought myself a gold and silver Rolex with a black face," he
said. "I pretty much wear it every day now.”
The singer's hair has also gone through many different stages since
the early days of his career, from a curly mop to a quiff-style
before embracing a buzz cut, but it doesn't mean he's willing to go
to extremes when it comes to switching up his locks.
“I like the natural look, so I don’t see myself dying my hair
platinum like so many guys have been doing now," he laughed. "The
buzz is easy to manage. Maybe at some point I’ll grow my hair back
out really curly like I used to have it. But it’s such a project.
It adds about 20 minutes to the day, getting ready every
morning.”
