Newly-single Lady Gaga returning to stage for political gig
Lady Gaga will make her first public appearance since calling off her engagement at a Democratic National Convention concert in New Jersey next week (begs25Jul16).
The pop superstar confirmed she and actor fiance Taylor Kinney are "taking a break" in an emotional post on Instagram on Wednesday (20Jul16), but she is refusing to let her love split force her into hiding.
Instead, Gaga will return to the stage on 28 July (16) to perform
at the Camden Rising gig, organised to take place just hours before
former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton formally accepts the
Democratic Party nomination for president at the Democratic
National Convention in nearby Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Rocker Lenny Kravitz and DJ Jazzy Jeff are also part of the show
line-up.
It's not the first political event Gaga has been involved in for
Hillary - she also threw her support behind the presidential
candidate last year (15), when she and frequent collaborator Tony
Bennett teamed up to perform at a New York City fundraiser.
Gaga is said to have separated from Kinney a few weeks ago, and she
was first seen without her engagement ring while out in Malibu,
California on Friday (15Jul16) - the Chicago Fire actor's 35th
birthday. She was then spotted on vacation with friends in Mexico
over the weekend (16-17Jul16), when again her diamond was missing
from her left ring finger.
However, as she addressed the break-up reports on Wednesday, Gaga
admitted she and her beau are still trying to figure things
out.
Alongside a snap of the couple with its arms around one another,
Gaga wrote: "Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates.
Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been
taking a break.
"We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through
long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love
we have always shared. Please root us on. We're just like everybody
else and we really love each other."
The stars became engaged last year (15), after four years of
dating.
