Nathan Sykes to undergo throat surgery
The Wanted star Nathan Sykes will have a birthday to remember on Thursday (18Apr13) as the singer is set to undergo surgery to repair a haemorrhaging nodule on his vocal cords.
The All Time Low hitmaker, who has reportedly been suffering from voice problems for some time, was advised to undergo the operation after seeking specialist medical attention.
Sykes has jetted to Los Angeles from the Bahamas for the operation
- which is scheduled for the day he turns 20 years old.
According to Britain's The Sun, Sykes will be unable to talk for at
least a month as he recovers from the procedure.
His condition could spell disaster for Sykes and his bandmates as
they have begun working on their next album and had been planning a
world tour at the end of the year (13).
A source tells the newspaper, "It's not good at all. Nathan has
battled with throat issues for a while but this is far more
serious. After the once-over by the specialist, he was instructed
to have almost immediate surgery. Naturally Nathan is really
worried as if it doesn't work, his career is over.
"The rest of the band are not only concerned about him but also
about the group. It will be tricky to continue without him as
vocals will have to be changed. All their worldwide commitments are
having to be put on hold."
