Actor-turned-TV presenter Mario Lopez has been slapped with a breach of contract lawsuit over allegations he failed to appear as a host for an event.

The former Saved By The Bell star was allegedly hired to emcee a concert in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 27 October (12), but bowed out at the last minute due to scheduling difficulties.

In legal papers filed in Philadelphia County Court last month (Mar13), Robert Capone claims he suffered losses of around $5,000 due to the cancellation and is now seeking $50,000 in damages.

According to the lawsuit, Lopez was to be paid an appearance fee of $15,000 , and was given $8,000 in advance.

Capone claims representatives for the star only informed him on 10 October (12) that Lopez would not be attending because of "new commitments" that had "just arose".

Capone is suing Lopez for consumer fraud, bad faith dealing, breach of contract and fraud in the inducement.
