Nas launches scholarship for top graduates
Rapper Nas is teaming up with an education and employment firm to help promising students land top jobs.
The I Can hitmaker is partnering with executives at Koru to launch The Nas Scholarship Fund, which will support high-achieving graduates. Nas, who has ploughed more than $100,000 into the scheme, will act as a coach for the selected candidates.
He says, "I know how hard it can be to carve out your path and
purpose in life. The young people going through Koru are gritty,
book smart and street smart. The program gives them an opportunity
to put those smarts to work. I can't wait to work directly with
them and share what I've learned through my own life
experiences."
Last month (Apr14), Nas announced plans to team up with a technical
school in New York City to provide scholarships for ethnic
minorities with funding through his investment company,
QueensBridge Venture Partners.
